Vinification

In this wine, the Van Zeller family— 15 generations in the Douro—recognizes the three valleys where they have grown grapes: Pinhão, Douro and Torto. It is a rich smooth wine, powered by tannins and the wood aging. Foot trodden in open fermenters, the wine is a blend of grapes from 35-year-old vines. It is rich, still developing and will be ready to drink from 2020.

Aging

21 months in new and used French oak barrels

Tasting Notes

Characteristics of old vines and mixed plantations, where red fruit aromas abound together with great complexity. The tannins are round and velvety. Fresh on the mouth with a long and persistent finish, this wine is produced to be drunk upon release but will greatly benefit with time in the cellar.
